The Parrot is a new cafe and music venue in Carmarthen opening 4th April

For some time my home town Carmarthen has been lacking any sort of night life. The poor people of this town have been left to fend for themselves on the cruel streets drifting hopelessly from one generic jukebox venue to another slowly loosing the will to dance!

However, this is all about to change. As of 04.04.11 Carmarthen will have a brand new venue in the form of The Parrot. Moving in to 32 King St this will include, by day, a stunning family friendly cafe with the excellent Tangled Parrot record store directly above. A place where you can have a bite to eat, sip on a coffee, browse the internet and listen to and buy some quality music. This is a perfect combination and something this town has never seen.

By night the cafe will make way for a bar and dance floor. Regular nights have been planned for Fridays and Saturdays with several bookings already confirmed. Artists such as Vanguard, Bass Clef, Rockwell, Planet Mu DJs, Arcade Installation, D.Gritty, Blaktrix, DJ Jaffa, Tom X2K, ADE, Cen and loads more will be passing through in the next few months. Also there is talk of mid week nights also. Coming up on the 16th April Record Store Day with performances from Alex Dingley, Trwbador and H-Hawkline plus special guests, loads of releases for the day and a night dedicated to the love of vinyl.

Kicking things off there will be an opening night on the 8th April with the newly formed Deadly Saith (former Tootin Skamoon),DJ Eugene and Shanna.

Then on the 9th April another live music night featuring local heroes The Conductors, Survivalists and P.U.B. Lots to look forward to then and of course hope to see you there.
